Overview

Axis Mundi is an exhibition of twenty-one artists from the USA and Canada. The exhibition will take place at three locations near downtown Denver: Platte Forum Gallery, The Olympic Building, and The Land Library.

September 14Screening of Albatross by Chris Jordan at the Denver Film Center . Q&A with the filmmaker afterwards. Show starts at 7pm.

September 16Public Reception at PlatteForum 6pm. Curatorial talk 6:30 pm. Corresponding participatory art installations and events: 6-10 pm (Rosburg) Olympic Building; 5 – 10 pm Land Library Building (Rocina-Richardson and LeCourtois). See the “locations” portion of this website for more details.

September 23Temple Talk with four Axis Mundi artists: Ren Adams (Albuquerque, New Mexico), Sean Stewart (Ontario, Canada), Viviane Le Courtois (Denver, CO) and Suchitra Mattai (Denver, CO). 12 – 1:30 pm

This exhibition is a part of the Biennial of the Americas.  In addition, some of the Axis Mundi artists will be presenting before the Pugwash Thinker’s Lodge Retreat in Nova Scotia on September 28, 2017 — marking the 60th anniversary of the first Conference on Science and World Affairs at Pugwash.

Axis Mundi will happen at three different locations, all within walking distance.

See the large exhibition (sixteen artists) in the gallery, first floor.  On the outer Northeast side of the Temple building, look for a mural by two of the Axis Mundi artists, Pedro Barrios and Jaime Molina, AKA “The Worst Crew.”

 

Olympic Building : 2565 Curtis Street

5-10 pm

Participate in the solo installation by Regan Rosburg, entitled “Omega.”  Guests must sign a waiver.  Look for the big white building on the corner of Curtis and 26th. Please enter through the front of the building.

 

Land Library : 2612 Champa Street

 5-10 pm

5 pm – Artist Eileen Roscina Richardson will invite you to walk into her living installation

7:15 (ongoing all night) – Viviane Le Courtois invites conversation and participation in her work, “Dirt Soup.”

Participate in the two amazing outdoor works of Viviane Le Courtois and Eileen Roscina Richardson.  The Land Library is located in the old Pie Factory Building. Look for the garden lot entrance (entrance is on Champa Street, next to the Pie building).

 

To visit all three of the exhibits, follow the chalk indications on the sidewalk,

as well as the lights and signage.
